What is the laser cutting process?
A continuous cut is produced by moving the laser beam or workpiece under CNC control. There are three major varieties of laser cutting: fusion cutting, flame cutting and remote cutting. In fusion laser cutting, an inert gas (typically nitrogen) is used to expel molten material out of the kerf.
When cutting stainless steel or aluminum, the laser beam simply melts the material, and high pressure nitrogen is used to blow the molten metal out of the kerf.
